Warwick Defeats Valley Central

Warwick, NY. Warwick defeated Valley Central 25 – 20 in home opening “Week 0” win at C. A. Morgan Field before a crowd of nearly 3000 Wildcat Fans. Total team effort was the key as all three phases of the game (Offense, Defense and Special Teams) contributed in the win.


Senior QB Nick DiMarco finished 15 for 22 throwing for 205 yards and a touchdown to junior receiver Ryan McLaughlin. DiMarco also ran for two TD’s behind solid offensive line of Dan Robledo, Aidan Corrigan, Tim Wilbur, Joe Santiago, Jacob Gibel, Luke Seibel and Christian Felix. Nick Simonetta led all receivers with 8 catches for 101 yards. Skyler Rodriguez, Mclaughlin, and Justin Hurd combined for 104 yards receiving.


Justin Hurd led the defense with 11 tackles from the safety position while Linebackers Tyler Ellis and defensive lineman Matt Amaturo had 7 and 5 tackles respectively. The Wildcats forced 2 turnovers including an Ellis INT and a forced fumble by Jacob Gibel. Chase Fogg had a key play from his corner position knocking down an important pass from VC’s QB.


Dan Thorson made his return to football with a 90 yard Kick – Off return to open the second half and was aided by key blocks from Dominic Sirico (4 total tackles), Tyler Ellis and Justin Hurd.


Warwick will travel to Goshen on Saturday September 11 for a 1 PM kick – off against the Goshen Gladiators at Goshen HS for the Annual Spirit Trophy Game. The game has added significance as we remember and honor all of those who where lost in the events of September 11, 2001. The Section IX Athletic Council has returned all schools to full spectator attendance both at outdoor and indoor events. Section 9 ruled that masks are optional for all participants and spectators outdoors but remain required for indoor events such as volleyball and swim meets. Go Wildcats.
