Wildcats compete in State Football tournament

Warwick, NY. Warwick Football accepted an invitation to compete in the New York State High School Football Coaches Association State 7 on 7 Championships July 17th at Cortland State. Following an impressive showing at the Hudson Valley Shoot Out in late June, the Wildcats put their skills to the test against New York’s best and over 30 college coaches.
Led by all league Quarterback Nick Dimarcio the Wildcats finished out 4 - 1 with their only loss to University Prep Charter School (Rochester, NY). Warwick veteran receivers Nick Simmonetta, Justin Hurd, Skyler Rodriguez, Nate Constable, rising junior Ryan McLaughlin, Jonah Mederos and rising sophomore Latrell Willis caught everything thrown at them all day long. Warwick’s newest member of the “44 Club” led the linebacker core of Tyler Ellis, Ryan Flemming, Dominic Sirico, Charlie Phipps, Jake Rooney, Anthony Marcano, Owen Hoyen and Adam Miller. Defensive backs were impressive all day defending NY states top receivers led by Skyler Rodriguez, NIck LoMauro, Devin Mann, Aaron Greaves, Ryan McLaughliin and Declan McCurdy.
Rising 8th grader Marco Green took reps in preparation for the fall season and lineman Christian Felix (11th grade) and Devin Kick competed in the lineman skills showcase. Both drew the attention of a number of colleges. The Wildcats workout weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights in the weight room (Tuesday’s are skills on the field) from 6 - 7:30 PM. Workouts are open to all HS football candidates. Wildcats will host Valley Central Friday Night September 3rd under the lights of C. A. Morgan Field in Warwick.
